Product-Features

1.Polytetrafluoroethylene Ptfe Thread Sealing Tape can be used on all threaded pipe, valves and fittings carrying acids, solvents, alkalis, steam, hot and cold water, LP gas, natural gas, oxygen and almost any chemical.

2.Weather-resistant, flexible, low dielectric constant, chemically inert and usable at low temperatures, Polytetrafluoroethylene Ptfe Thread Sealing Tape perform over a temperature range of -450° to 500° F and up to 10,000 psi.

3.Polytetrafluoroethylene Ptfe Thread Sealing Tape is non-hardening, non-toxic, non-stick and non-flammable.

How-to-Use

1.Clean the pipe threads with a rag before applying the PTFE tape.

Start wrapping the male threads at very end of the pipe, but do not let the tape lap over the end. If the tape laps over the end of the pipe it can reduce water pressure and even cause clogs from bits of the tape that get pulled into the water line.

2.Start with a couple loops around at the end, then wrap all the threads, overlapping half the width of the tape on each wind.

3.Wrap in the direction of the threads starting from the end and proceeding toward the length of the pipe. Wrapping the wrong way may result in the tape coming unwound as the fittings are tightened.

4.As you wrap, keep tension on the tape so that it is pulled into the threads.

5.If you loosen or disconnect a fitting, remove the old tape and re-wrap it with a fresh piece.

FAQ

Q: When to use it?

A: There are many different types of pipe joints that are used in plumbing and mechanical systems. Of all the different kinds, there is only one type of joint that it is proper to use Teflon tape on. That is iron pipe thread, or what is referred to as a tapered thread..

Q: Is there any difference between yellow tape and white tape?

A: Yellow PTFE tape is supposed to be used for sealing gas pipe thread, and white PTFE tape, for water.
